Where did you get your fenders? The only ones I've seen are for big bumper cars. Same question for the hood. How did they fit? I know all glass parts need to be trimmed and shimmed, but were they close?

My fenders came with the car when i bought it. Although, The company i bought the doors from sell the fenders as well.(usbodysource.com) Also, I beleive they are the same fenders for both big and small bumper cars. My hood came from a fella i ran into at a race here in florida, He is a retired fiberglass shop owner who still does stuff on the side, He had a mold for an original comet gt hood. I persuaded him to make the hood for me. Im sure, I could persuade him to do another if you wish.

Also, I was really impressed with the fit of the hood, fenders, and doors. They are all close enough for me, I did not do much modifying at all.

Was US Body Source where you got everything fiberglass, or just the doors?
If not, where did the hood/fenders come from?
    Thanks
    Dave

the hood on my maverick came from usbody. was happy about the quality. we've discussed unlimited products quite a bit. seems the general consensus was not very good.:)

From what I've heard, show cars probably won't even ship the part you order, so it's best to stay away from them.

UP will get you a part, but it won't be the greatest.

USbody is probably the best way to go. I haven't heard nearly as much negative stuff about them.

I'm just getting into this Maverick stuff, so does anyone know if there is a difference between the 69.5-73 fenders and the 74 and later? I could probably make it fit right, but I'd rather not if I don't have to.

I wish Harwood made Maverick stuff.

Wow. That's quite a weight savings! Thanks for the guess.
If you ever get a chance to actually weigh them I'd love to hear the outcome.

Yes the fenders are Big Bumper Fenders. You can modify them to fit. I sent mine back because they looked like a bad batch. The Hood was pretty Good. The body guy that screwed me over when I was 18 or so never did trim it to fit right. If he would have finished it, It would have been perfect. US body source seems to have the best stuff. I would say they did a rush job on the fenders as I waited 12 weeks and finally called and complained. When i got the fenders I noticed they were Big Bumper fenders and at the time I didn't want to have to pay to have somebody modify them, and as mentioned they seemed sub par on general inspection. Now, Though I would do it myself.

Side Note, my buddy is starting a new style chroming procedure that is Sprayed on that is very durable under 200 degrees F. It can be applied to just about any surface. Including Fiber Glass. It is alot less expensive, more durable, and less likely to rust with age. I will keep you informed and maybe take some pics of his handy work soon. He said he could Chrome an entire car with this process. It isn't paint but applied in the same way. He has taken some pretty intensive classes to learn how to work with it. The point of all this is I may buy Fiber Glass bumpers and lose some weight but keep it stock looking.:yup:
