Mine sat outside for the good part of 15 years and had moss growing on it too - A good washing with detergent and it all came off and really didn't look too bad - surprised me :thumbs2:

Got the majority of it off with good ol' soap and water. Here in a few days, I'll take some pics to show the difference, lol. (Which is a big difference). I'm actually starting to like the original color on it more and more.

My heart sank and my eyes welled when I saw the Mav in the field.

Now, that its got a good home, the sun is shining, birds are singing, bees are buzzing, and the smell of burnt rubber and av-gas is permeating the atmosphere! :drive:

    Sweet find. :thumbs2:

LOL! Thanks, hoping like crazy the weather is good this weekend. I want to be able to work on it all weekend. Tuning the motor up, and beginning on the body work. (IF it doesn't rain)

Well, today I found some good news and bad news. First the good news. The trunk compartment is in really great shape. Won't take much work at all:

Now for the bad news. Today was a great day with the weather. Was able to take the seat out, vinyl covering and pad. Underneath was soaking wet. The floor pans are in pretty bad shape. They could have been a lot worse though. Any suggestion as how to go about tackling this? I'm thinking just cut out the rust, patch in metal. Here are some pics:

Have you tried probing it with an awl or punch? It may not be as bad as you think... If the metal is solid, just remove as much rust as you can and treat the rest.

Actually, yeah. I did it with a sharp scraper. Passenger side is gone all the way through. Drivers side is solid except for a small spot where the dimmer switch is. This weekend I will be cutting out the worst spots and seeing how I can proceed from there.

Excellent weather again this weekend. Got quite a bit done. First, I took off both the fenders to see how bad the cowl damage was. It was stopped up, and had been holding water/leaves/pine needles. Really did a number on the fenders. Here are some pics of that progress:

Is this the area where everyone speaks of "torque boxes"?

Now to show the interior work I got done this weekend:

Found quite a bit of things under the seats. From contraceptives, to rat nests. LOL:

Thanks for looking! I need some advice on the cowl repair. I've looked at many of the posts on it and have decided I want to cut out all the spot welds. Where exactly are all of these, and how to I know what's what? Then after that, how do I repair/weld the cover back? If someone had some in depth pics of where the spot welds were, or how they put their cover back, that would be great!
