Ordered the stuff from Tony Branda that this car lacked when the Shelby parts were added. All of the correct brackets and braces to support the nose. The correct headlamp buckets. Headlamp bezel rings. Lucas Square 8 driving lamps. Shelby letters for the frt panel. A new remote mirror. Roll bar donuts. Also new Fomoco door handles and back up lamps.

    Only for around $800

This is going to make things so much easier. A complete frt end kit from Laurel Mountain Mustangs including complete upper & lower control arms, coil springs, spring seats, KYB shocks and all tie rods. Also received the new pitman arm and centerlink to do away with the p/stg.

I received a couple more parts shipments today. This is most everything that I need to properly install the Shelby frt fiberglass that was added 40 years ago. The correct type supports, headlamp buckets, headlamp rings, grill opening mldgs, grill and nose letters.
Also got some rollbar donuts. These are way different than what my car had in it, not to say they were correct.

I also received the interior kit. I need to go through it and see if there are any other surprises. My first surprise was that the fold down area carpet wasn't included in the ACC shipment. Seems silly since the kit is specified to be for a fastback.

Well put, I like it. Direct and to the point. I don't think I would worry about it not being a true Shelby. Would anyone like to guess how many Shelby's out there are reskins? I personally know of at least 11 or 12 that are exactly that. Originals were totaled so back then (late 60's and early 70's) when Shelby had abandoned everyone and went chasing big game in Africa the only choice was to grab a plain Mustang and build it into the Shelby that was totaled, numbers included. I just wonder how many of those snobs have one and probably don't even know it. :biglaugh::biglaugh:
My thought is that if you want it. build it. After-all it's yours. Looking forward to watching the build. Keep the pics coming.

Next, you'll need one of these:

And if you do, I know the guy that's the only one licensed by Shelby to make them.

My suggestion is to stop hanging around Shelby owners and stick with us Maverick/Comet owners - we can appreciate what you're doing much more than the Shelby snobs ever will

Yes I agree. I deleted my thread there tonight. Most of those guys don't even work on their own cars. I'll continue this thread here as long as it's ok with the mods.

My money from the truck I sold is going away fast, but I did order the rotors, calipers, hoses and wheel bearings to complete the disc brake conversion tonight. Here's the parts the kit requires.

Rotors 95-97 Ranger 2wd non ABS
    Calipers 83-95 S-10 2wd
Hoses 79-85 Cadillac Eldorado for 17" hose (79 Seville for 15")
    Master Cylinder 74 Maverick
Inner wheel brg & oil seal 95-97 Ranger
    Outer brg 67-69 Mustang

I'm still a little bit cramped up in my 2 car garage to be restoring 2 Fords, so I used my income tax return to order an amish build storage building to put lawn equipment, bikes and such in. That sould give me plenty of room to work on these 2 heaps!

Here's some pics from the other thread. More soon. (y)

    A Lucas Square 8 lamp....correct for a 68 Shelby

Underside of the Shelby trunk showing the original red paint and the blue that was painted next. I found damage to one corner of the decklid. Since the majority of the Shelby fiberglass that was added to this car in the early 70s had damage, I can only assume who ever added the parts got them from salvage yards or off of a wrecked Shelby. The Shelby roll bar had part of the floor of the Shelby it was out of still attached and it had been torched out. Because if this it was a little too tall and ripped the headliner. I'm going to remove that piece and reinstall it correctly.

A shot of the date codes on the genuine frt fiberglass.

In the first picture of the Mustang, you'll notice it had a set of Indy 500 mags. My dad took them off and put them on his Maverick which he drove until he sold it in the early 80s.

Tinkered with the Maverick a little and finally got around to moving the Mustang over in the garage so I could start working on it.

Man, you've got it all set up, a Maverick, a Mustang, a couple of bikes, a pickup, and looks like you live in the country. (y)

Thanks. It's nice to finally have money to do the things I want to since my divorce and child support stuff is over. Time to buy me some toys!

Btw those gold fenders are the original ones to the car. I borrowed them for my 68 GT I had long ago. When I sold the GT I installed some taiwan fenders and kept these. This car will have all of the original sheet metal.

Not to hijack this thread too much, but would that console fit a Maverick? Maybe with a few little mods? I like the looks of that, but bet it's pricey.

Parts are still rolling in everyday like Christmas. I think I finally have everything required for the disc brake conversion. I'm gonna take pics of the parts and post in case anyone is interested in the swap for a Maverick. What sold me is that a friend of mine uses S10 brakes on his dirt track car. Because they're cheap...and durable. So I figure S10 calipers on Ranger rotors should be plenty for a 68 Mustang that's gonna be driven easy. Well easy most of the time. :drive:

Sorry, and not to hijack...it won't fit a Maverick, but we are going to develop one that will, once my project car is a little farther along.
