The anticipation is killin me, but I'm also apprehensive at the same time, it's one thing to drive a 12 second street car and quite another to drive a 9 second drag racer for the first time. I'm bringin the Maverick to the Roundup, I can't bring both and I need a car for cruisin. Next year I'll make provisions to bring the Comet...cruisin or not. Mike I'll get some video tomorrow night and see if Stefan will post it for me. Thx for the encouragement ya'll and wish me luck.
Rick; voice of experience.....drive it slow for the first few times down the track. You have to figure out the handling and how it launches, and.....how it stops! Get it a bit faster with each pass, and when you are confident it is ready, let it eat! Safer, and a whole lot less expensive that way. Good luck!!!!!
Rained out will try again tomorrow. Earl the first trip to the track will be for shakedown, I'm gonna have to build some confidence in the car and I think there is somewhat of a learning curve involved also. I'll keep ya'll posted.
you mean passes, plural as in more than one or multiples No way I'd line up with another car until I know what the car will do. There is a little backwoods track up the road a piece I'm gonna take the car to Sunday, not the greatest place but not crowded either, I can get my feet wet their without having to worry about other drivers. Tomorrow I'll just be getting a feel for the car, it's launching charateristics, how it hooks, 60 ft. times, tweaking the suspension and engine etc. etc.
Yeh, it depends on the track. Have fun and be safe and post the results! Will we have a new leader on the timeslips, stay tuned SUNDAY, SUNDAY, SUNDAY, be THERE!
