'85 Mustang GT. Bought it with my money after coming back from my first tour overseas in '88. Had to sell it in '93 when I started the family. Still love that car...
Drove Mom and Dad's cars as long as I could ............. ............ then I bought my first, a '72 Bronco.
At 14 bought a 39 Ford 4dr for 50.00, blew the rear end the next day after racing around the pasture sitting on a cement block to see over the massive steering wheel. Sold it for 6.00 scrap.
A 68 Shelby GT-350. Turned out to be a re-body build from a wrecked Shelby in the late 60s-early 70s. Dad bought it in 1975 and gave it to me later on. Never drove it. Still have it.
<---that maverick. Got it when I was 14. It's been in my family since around 88(before I was born). I'm a third generation Ford Guy and proud of it
Hate to admit but my first car was a 1974 Chevrolet Vega. Almost all of the exterior panels needed to be replaced because of rust when I got the car in 1978. By 1979 you could see the carpet hanging under the vehicle from the large rust holes in the floor!! Had allot of fun in that car.....
My first cars, got a two for one special from my sister's best friends husband. He sold me his dads and his mothers cars which were indentical other than his dads was a 3sp with overdrive and Black and his mothers was an merc-o-matic and White. 51 Merc Montery 2 drs. Lost the white one in a fire and traded the Black one years later for a 55 Crown Victoria with every option including glass roof and continental kit. My dad asked me once if I was starting a used car lot in his yard. It probably looked like it with all of my acquisitions setting there. But I might have to consider the 59 Ford Super Stock that my brother gave me as my first when he built his new car. I was 6 and never drove it on the road legally. First Maverick, 70 Grabber Vermillion Red and 7 more of different variety over the years but none right now.
I bought my first car for $100 from my uncle. It was in 1975 and I was 16 years old. A 1964 Impala SS, 300hp 327 (valve cover had a sticker on it that said "Built by USA #1 Team"), posi rear end and a 3 on the tree. I bought the car and drove it 1000 miles from Wyoming to Oregon the next day. My first Maverick was in 1983, Found it on a lot in Radcliff, KY. It was a 1977 2dr, 302, C-4, PS, PB and A/C with 26,000 on the clock, RIP. That started the long love affair with this quaint little car that has so many possibilities. 31 Mavericks later here I am, lots of parts and am now down to 4 Mavericks. Will soon be down to 2 and that is where it will stay till the next deal I can't refuse.
