    When your converter "balloons" it's actually exapnding length-wise. If it expands past your "slack" (for-aft movement between converter and flexplate), it'll be pushing the crank forward against the thrust surface. This happened on my son's car. After it was too late, we pulled the engine down and found the thrust was wiped. You could pry the crank forward/backward 1/8"! :cry:
