Come on those massive friggin' park bench bumpers were not that bad and if you needed a bed to sleep on at night the bumpers were always there. They also made great snow plows in the winter.:rofl2::thumbs2::biglaugh::thumbs2: NMCC

Maverick was sold here in Brasil as "THE FORMULA AGAINST THE ROUTINE".

Around 1970´s Ford Taunus was to be the new brazilian Ford, but some stubborn Ford guy, thank god, made the Maverick win the battle.

It was first wold with the 302 V8, and inline 6 cylinders that came from former Renault/Willys Aerowillys.

The 6 cyl was a piece of crap, and they had to create an outside hose to cool the last cylinder, the one closer to the firewall, cause it would melt in a matter of hours.

1975 Ford released the new 2.3 OHC 4 cylinders engine, very modern and reliable.

Gas crisis all over the world, V8 engines...not a match.

Well, in the 70´s we had a dictatorship here, so BRASIL, LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT became a new motto, and fuel economy was a priority.

Imported cars with big engines would get stoned at the streets. Not a metaphor.

Gas stations would not open on weekends, and the maximum speed in every highway was 80km/h, RESPECT THE 80´s was the new motto, referring to the actual speed, and to the forecoming decade.

All that, and the release of Ford Corcel II, with 1.4l and 1.6l, much more room inside, modern design to the period has helped to kill the brazilian Ford Maverick.

We are now left with VW 1.0L engines, that, get ready for this, pull out 83 horsepower. YEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS 83!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bet that scared ya! Wanna mess with my vw Gol 1.0? Thought so!

PS - Maverick were eating chevys at every track.so they had to come uop with a new category, exclusive for stock car mavericks.
