Filed under: Trucks/Pickups, Plants/Manufacturing, Ford Beginning Monday, October 8, FoMoCo will suspend production of its F-series Super Duty pickup for two weeks. According to Ford, sales have slumped because of the housing slowdown (Damn subprime mortgage market!), a variable that seems to have a profound effect on pickup sales. Ford's sales analyst, George Pipas, says that the production halt is a way to avoid excess inventory and has nothing to do with September's sales decline of Ford pickups by 20.8-percent. That's a little better, but it is still a huge frontal area with acres of chrome. I don't know where they got the idea that 50 square foot of flat front with 48 square foot of chrome splashed willy-nilly was attractive. My .02 Also, I was being fecious about the measurements...
All these trucks with the double stacked lights remind me of national lampoons vacation and the family truckster...................
I don't like the Super Duty when I see pictures of it either. But I saw a white one the other day and in real life it really dosen't look that bad in my opinion. And at least the F-150 still looks decent. Chevy on the other hand, ALL their trucks are butt ugly now. Hard to deny that Duramax is a nice engine though.
Not likely. Ford (and I imagine GM and Chrysler as well) are working on increasing margins even if that means selling fewer cars. That's why ford has reduced fleet sales which is largely responsible for the 20+% YOY decrease in sales.
I agree, I almost traded my 2006 GMC Sierra in yesterday on a 2007 (new style) Silverado, I'm glad I slept on it, they look pretty goofy with the square wheel wells, And yes I would have bought a Ford if they were decent, the 2006 Ford trucks are like cardboard inside.
