    Hey guys
Still looking for a rear frame rail piece (driver's side) for my 1977 maverick. Rusted from bumper shock area to just in front of the leaf spring area.
Anybody have this or any suggestions?

That's what i am thinking i will have to do.
Probably better than scabbing an old part in anyway.
    Thanks.
I have another question for you if you don't mind... near the top of the curved portion of the frame (in the wheel well) there is an extra piece of steel welded that wraps around (like a u-shape). It's about 3-4" wide and almost looks like it was a patch. Although, i know this car is original. Any idea why this would be there? Did they put it in to strengthen the curved part of the frame? I know this was a problem area with old Monte-Carlos.

That "patch" is original. I have seen them on the later year cars.

Can you post up a picture so we can see what you are working on, as far as the rust in the rear frame.

Here's a video of a Mini that is being heavily modified, start it at 10:36 where they show how they fabbed the frame rails. It looks like a pretty simple process you could do in the garage.
