    I had the same problem a few months ago. The fusible link popped in mine also. The parts houses stock new links of various designs and amp ratings. Pick the one you like and wire in place of the old link. One way to test the alternator's charging is to use a (non magnetic)screw driver and touch the center plug covering the shaft on the backside of the alternator.(while the engine is running) If the screw driver sticks to it, the alternator is charging. If it doesn't stick, then look into the stator circuit not supplying the needed charge to turn the alternator on when you first start the engine.
