It's not about how quickly you wear out components , it is about shorter stopping distances. I would rather replace rotors more often and shorten my stopping distance by 50 Feet than sacrifice safety for saving a few bucks... depends on what end result you are looking for , economy or performance.

My experience with brakes is that cheap pads are noisier, and do not last very long at all.
Never had any problem with how well they stop the car.
The semi-metallic pads perform the best, however they produce a lot of ugly brake dust that gets all over the wheels and is a real pain to clean off. Ceramic pads are much quieter and do not produce a lot of dust, and the dust that is produced is a lighter color and not so ugly. If you are going road-racing or you are towing, semi-metallic are the best, but for normal street use (with some occasional spirited driving), I prefer ceramic pads.

they are wagner brand, which are good. money doesn't always guarantee quality. and they are on closeout. just shows the markup these things have.

too bad performance aftermarket brake components are literally non-existent for these cars. If DBA and Hawk Performance made parts for these cars there would be far fewer big brake conversions being done on them. Then again, by the time you dump cash into premium stock components.. you're not that far off from just doing a larger diameter conversion. lol

Assuming your wheels will fit over them. Not everyone wants 18-inch wheels on their car.
