My 73 302 has a mechanical, I assume stock fuel pump and I am getting 10-12 psi at the Edelbrock 1406. Before I add a regulator, was wondering should I install an electric pump. What pros/cons? Pressure regulator suggestions?

I'd stick with mechanical, but get one that produces no more than 6psi...

Current one appears stock, how do I know output of one off the shelf?

A small block Ford mechanical pump should not exceed 7 psi. at maximum. Benefits of a mechanical, cost, simplicity, availability, installation\replacement. Benefits of an electrical, easy start at all engine temperatures, less drag & junk hanging off front of engine (especially if power steering), EFI ready, consistent pressure at all rpm's, possible delivery of cooler fuel.
