Wheww alot of terms there i'll need to learn, I did ask for it though I do understand somewhat sounds like i'll need a dwell meter or something i'll have to add that to the list of tools I need along with a timing light. As for your question Robert the gauge goes back to E if it's unplugged, main reason I was wondering if it could be the IVR (as I now know it's called) is because if it were then the two problems (dash light prob too) could be tied to one culprit then I could kill two birds with one stone. If the gauge didn't work at all i'd suspect a fuse but unfortunatley it aint that simple. For a time my Oil and Temp lights didn't work either but I later linked that to oil spilling onto the terminals in the engine compartment I pulled the wires off cleaned the terminals and the wire ends put em back on now those lights work again. The dash lights didn't work before that happened though so can't blame that on the oil spill, but the gauge DID work properly when I got the car it was just above E but still ran fine almost as if something got messed up during the initial 14 mile drive to my house from where I bought it. (I put Gas in the car before doing that of course). For now I guess if I wanna drive my car i'll have to treat the area between 1/4 and 1/2 on the gauge as empty kinda makes me wonder what'd happen if I filled the tank up heh. 71 Grabber (Project Car) 85 Club Wagon 94 Taurus GL Sedan FFV
