Yea it definately went by to fast. Dave, we were a little bit of everywhere. We watched the races from about 2:30 - 4 but other then that we were all over the place. We spent alot of time looking around in the swap meet. Saw a red tubbed out Comet a couple of times that sounded bad a$$ but we never could find it sitting anywhere to take a picture of it. Here's a few pic's we got. Next year I'm takeing charge of the camera, my dad had it this year. Next year I'll get pictures of all the Mav's and Comets there.
It was great to see everyone and meet some new folks, we were all quite surprised to see Dennis and his "wife" there but I'm sure he'll will be more surprised to find out Earl married him Earl you did a great job buddy, as usual. Terry, Katie made a good friend in Savannah, Terry thx for not lettin the cat out of the bag about the dyno pull.....I was pleasantly surprised by the HP numbers and kinda stunned about the torque...3 other club members (Dan,Frank and Mike)witnessed the pull in front of a nice little crowd and the car did us proud. Dan, chin up bud, you made it and brought a car despite the problems Thx everyone for making my family feel like family. Now it's time to look forward to the Roundup :bananaman
Hey....before the Round-Up is Carlisle. At least 20 Maverick/Comets will be there. If anybody can make it........plan to come!!
Rick your Dyno numbers are safe with me as well ...But you may want to re-inforce the back rest on your seat so it doesnt break!
Rick, For the guys from the truly Southern states, who want to know the numbers, send them a PM. Them "others" will just have to wait.
I must have just missed this dyno pull. My dad pointed out the dyno and there was a white Maverick with a blue stripe along the bottom sitting there.
The LONGEST FREAKIN' DAY EVER!!!!!!!!!! I left out of Louisville around 5am. Got into Nashville around 8am. Stopped in Franklin to get gas and thats when the trouble started. Fired the bike back-up and it was spitting and sputtering seemed like it was only firing on one cylinder. Did not know what to do. Shopped around for a Harley dealer or atleast someone who could fix my bike with no luck. Called my wife, she hooked up the trailer to the van and headed south. She got to me around 2pm. Loaded up the bike and headed home. Got passed Nashville and the "amp" light came on made it to Bowling Green before the battery went dead. Walked about 3 miles to a Autozone, picked up a alternator and walked back. Put the alternator on and headed on my way. Got to Upton, KY........flat tire . Needless to say by this time I was about done. Finally got home around 11pm that evening. Good points: 1) Wife, what a great women to hook the trailer up and come get me in the big black van. 2) Big black van....have all my tools in it to take the alternator off with. 3) big black van....had generator and battery charger in it to charge my dead battery with. It was without a doubt one of the most trying days in a long time. I should be pretty strong right now if the old saying is true....."what don't kill you...." Looks/sounds like you guys had a great time.
Well, that answers the "Wonder where is..." questions we all had yesterday. And Dan thought he had a bad day.
I am officially going to STOP planning to attend events. Seems that everytime I do, something happens. From now on I am just going to keep my plans quite and if I make it to a show, I make it. I was so frustrated!
Geez John, that's terrible. I was looking forward to meeting you too. (wondering if the big black van is a c-word) Oh well, I think everything happens for a reason. We'll just have to wait til Kentucky. Guys, I probably have pics of about 15-20 Mavs and Comets, all of ours and several others I found, including a 72 Grabber I saw for sale when I was leaving Sunday afternoon. It's late now so I'm going to bed. Thanks again everybody for an enjoyable weekend.
John; so sorry to hear about your bad luck. I really was looking forward to meeting you. Hopefully, see you in July. We did have a great meet, and we will have a better one next year. Dennis (Mavaholic) stopped by and surprized everyone. All in all, a great day.
