I don't know about back east but here you can talk to the instructors at the local Job Corps. They usually only charge the cost of materials and they do as a good of a job as most of the shops around here.

    Dead on!!! (y)
You get what you pay for. I'm not saying you can't get a nice job for 2K but it will be very difficult. You will pretty much have to find someone to do it on the side. You can expect to spend 1K just for all of the materials...if you use quality paint.
The worst thing you can do is settle for a mediocre job and then be ashamed to drive it only to have to go back and pay someone else to strip it back down later and redo it.
    Good luck with it. :)

I agree 100% with the last two post. The cost of materials and labor will be the most expensive part of the job. We recently bought a PINT of paint for a small repair on a 2007 Chevy. That pint of paint was nearly $100! Thats not including the primer, the sealer, the hardener for the paint, the reducer , the clearcoat and the hardener for the clearcoat. It adds up real fast. $2000 to $4000 for a run of the mill paint job is not too far out of the ballpark. You might even get lucky and find someone who can do the job for less, but like the others have said, you get what you pay for. Keep asking around see what turns up.

Well I found a guy today who wil do it for 2 to 2.2K. He has been in the business for 30 years and does it on the side. He outlined all the prep he will do and I think I will be happy with it. I will let you know.

I painted my car 4 yrs ago I did all the body work by the time it was all done over 1800.00 in materals . Sand paper, body filler, sealer, primer, base coat, clear coat, masking paper , tape . I got all my materals through my brother in law at jobber price less 20% and payed his painter 450.00 to spray it plus 100.00 for the booth and I had to reassumble the car .

    Just my :2cents: . Jay
