I wasn't sure exactly what you were doing when I saw this thread, but it turned out pretty cool. I'm guessing that the piece that was added shouldn't be very flimsy since the original hood is still under it....you might have an issue if you open it up underneath. Be sure to coat that really good inside....I'm guessing there might be several places that rust could start. Great idea.
