A 71/72 Grabber just ain't a Grabber without a Grabber hood ... if you just spent $5,000 - $10,000 restoring a 71/72 Grabber but need a hood since the original was rusted out ... $500 is chump change ....

I agree with Dan. The Grabber hood really make these cars... in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, I like the stock hood but it's hard to beat a Grabber! I am doing a '72 Grabber clone right now and after an exhaustive search for a rust free Grabber hood, I just tackled the job of fixing the Grabber that I had, using my stock hood as a donor. It took about 30 hours to do but I'm glad I did it now. I wouldn't roll with out the Grabber hood! Also, I think we all know that you must be careful as to what some people think is "rust free"! Trust me on that one!

Well, I have to agree with you on that one Dan! But, for just the cosmetic on a normal one, I would be scared if I found MYself buying one for this price!

So, I guess the final verdict is that : If you need it, you will pay for it! If its not a neccesity, just keep lookin!

The mav is gone but i'm still here!
i will never stop:slap::banghead::banghead: my self for passing up on that hood...the exitement for finding a small bumpered made me forget that these are rare items

before i had found this forums i had seen about 4-6 of then in junkyards and most were rust-free...

the highest i ever saw one on e-bay was like $450

now that i know how much they're worth i might make it a weekly task to go to the yards and find some

so i can finally finish the mav:bouncy:

of course you guys will get the friends discount;)

but for the e-bay buyers it will be "no holds bars":evilsmile

I take that back guys I forgot about one. Stupid me. It was on a Maverick converted to a Grabber, I stripped at a guys body shop. I would have gotten everything including the hood for $150. Well I got everything else. Story was the guy he got this Maverick from (it was wrecked) was selling him just the car and wanted the hood back...well that was like 5 or 6 years ago and now he has no idea where the guy is, he thinks jail. And since he gave his word he would not sale it to me (freakin honest people lol). That was over a year ago, it was rust free at the time. I need to go back and check on it see if it's still there, maybe I can talk him out of it now. For $50 I should huh.

I'm so glad that I don't like the Grabber Hood. So much talk about finding them & what they cost. JMO that money for me is better spent many other places on my cars. But JMO. I hope everyone who wants one gets 10, but for me I wouldn't want one.

Me and you need to get together sometime, if he won't sell it to you, then I'll buy it and sell it to you! For a modest "handling fee" [my gas money for the trip up and back] you get a hood, and may be you might have something I need .

What do you think a true Grabber hood, minus the inserts would go for? The 74 Im getting has a Grabber hood minus the inserts (obviously why I asked haha) But I'll be getting an aftermarket one due to the intake I want sticking through the hood. No sense in ruining a real hood agreed?
