Grabber rear spoiler on Comet

Yep, the width is just about perfect.

 

Only drawback is the trunk lid won't stay open with the weight...

 

Might need a little assist from a pair late model hood or liftgate cylinders.

 

I did a little checking on that spoiler. As nearly as I can tell that's the one that came on 1982-85 Trans Ams. Later Firebirds of that style used the "aerowing" style with a pair of strakes that extended forward alongside the rear window. I can't swear to the exact transition from one style to the other, or if there may have been some overlap.

 

That spoiler was featured on the '82-'84 Trans Am, and '85-'92 base Firebird. Not only does it look better than the "wrap-around" spoiler, it's also far more durable.
Seems to be about the perfect width for a Maverick, albeit heavy...
