OK... I finally have the mock-up complete. Its taken much longer to get it together than I expected. (always does doesnt it?) After what seemed to be an endless pattern of measure-cut-assemble-install-"DANGIT!!!!!!!!!"-measure-disassemble-cut.... repeat, itd in place. Next up... complete disassembly and send to welder to have professionally welded together then paint. The only part of this I havent put together are the subframe connectors. There are just too many compound angles for me to mess with. I'll let a pro do that part.

Pictures are really bad but here they are.

Still on the list of to-do's:

    Oil Pan
    Re-wire dash instrumentation
Hope all new wiring works as planned
Make sure Rack & Pinion power steering works
    Make sure AC works
    Reinstall dash
    Install new parking brake setup
build up rear end with disc brakes
    reinstall interior
    new exhaust system
have hole where cowl vents used to be patched.

Then... Texas Mini-Meet bound. What is that??? 6 weeks?

Ill have to post a link to the instructions when I get home. (Can't paste links from phone) That would be the best way to answer your questions.

The nose of the torque arm has a built in slider. If you go to "Total Cost Involved" you can view the system and the detailed inst with photos.

Yeah yeah yeah... This will be a big weekend. Should get a lot done. Parts for the rear suspension are back from the welder and ready to be painted and installed. The new oil pan is ready to be installed. All hoses and parts ready for the rack & pinion to be installed. The rear end is ready to be assembled less brake lines... Yup just lots of sanding, painting, and wrenching to do now. Planning and engineering is done... mostly.

Finally got all my pieces for the suspension back from various machine shops and welders. Its all painted and ready to install. Just for the heck of it I assembled it and weighed it to see how much fat I am adding.

Static weight - Chassis stiffing, subframe connectors, cross members - 98 lb
Dynamic weight - the unsrpung weight, coilovers, trailing arms, torque arm, panhard bar - 76 lb

Then I weighed the old setup.

Static weight - Subframe connectors - 14 lb
Dynamic weight - leaf springs, traction bars, shocks - 92 lb

So basically I did the opposite of what you are suppose dot be doing. I added sprung weight and reduced unsprung weight. But overall, the car should be much more rigid yet feel better on the road and in the turns. Better handling on all sides.

Here are a couple pics of the major changes to the kit

    Electric fan and shroud

    Hello Grabber GT:
Have you considered the Ford Taurus 3.8 electric fan and shroud as a unit. It is a quick fit on the champion radiator and you would be hard pressed to locate an aftermarket fan that could pull "more" air. It is also a two speed unit that could be wired to use TWO separate temperature sending switches to operate first at low speed , and then at high speed when the heat increases. I have the slightly larger "brother" to this fan from the Lincoln mark VIII on a 427 with AC and it does a fantastic job of cooling. I'm sure you could locate one of these units at your local salvage yard or ebay. Just be sure you don't get the Taurus "3.0" fan .. which has a lower capacity. Bill Roberts is performing this very swap on a 71 Maverick 5.0 with auto and soon to have AC and I have photos if you're interested. I don't have them "ready" to display yet as we both work regular jobs and don't have a lot of spare time. Send an email if you have any questions. Good hunting . Bill and Chip .. Incidentally .. you have done a great job on this car judging from the photos . Congratulations . Also we had the same problem with the crossmember and petcock location and solved them in the same manner. :thumbs2:

Thanks for the compliments. On the fan though... I started a couple years ago with a taurus fan and griffin rad but had some issues with it. I ended up going with the Champion rad and the Mark VIII fan. You must have missed the install pics shown here.

I've got the new oil pan on now. Why is it so difficult to install the end pieces of the gasket? They never really seem like they fit properly into the channel provided and you're left wondering if its actually installed correctly. You'd think that someone would have come up with something better to improve installer confidence in the device.

Power steering rack is installed and I now need to connect the low pressure hose.

Im still having trouble getting my rear-end assembled. That driver side axle just doesnt want to go in. I'll try working on it some more this week but may end up taking the pumpkin down to have it reassembled with the splines aligned. I cant get them to budge at all.
