Ok! I get what ur saying. I have/had General 4 leafs. I say had because, I removed the bottom leaf. The car rode much to stiff to me for a street/highway cruiser. I suffered w/ it for about 3 yrs, to lazy to remove that leaf. Bottom-line, the ride is much nicer/tolerable after the change. My car sits about 24" at the mid-point of the rear bumper and about 27" at the center of the wheel wells w/ 225/70 * 14 tires inflated at abt 24-26lbs air.
i recently purchased and installed a 4 leaf setup from suspension king and the car went from 26 inches from ground to middle fender to 27 1/2 on both sides, i must say im very happy with the way the rear rides
Currently, I'm just under 26 on the driver side, 27 and a fraction on the passenger side (picture is a little deceptive, but it is about a full 1.5 inch difference)... Anywhere in that range is okay by me, I'm just looking forward to getting them even. Or should I be expecting them to be higher than that? I know they'll start high and settle ...just wondering if I'm going to be looking like I'm competing in the Dakar. And thanks for the heads-up about longer studs, 7D2 Grabber. I'll definitely keep that in mind if I end up running spacers.
Do u know what the spring rating spec's on those spring? The springs I have were 807 lbs. I assume streets in CA are not subject to the beating streets in the Chicago area, in the realm of potholes and such, after our brutal winters. I don't think I have heard about Suspension King until now...
Don't look for those General Springs to sag much; mine have been on for 5yrs and pretty much the same height since they were installed.
Well, everything's come to a halt. A friend was coming by today, to take it to his shop to help me with the suspension work, and some carb adjustment...I was inside when he was loading it onto a trailer, came back out....and this had happened: The Maverick had been up in front of the BMW. Engine running, but in park. It was running a high idle, and my friend had the hood up and was attempting to adjust it. Something went "PING" and the car went into reverse. Hit the BMW, hit the Civic, turned, wrapped around the tree, then hit the Ford truck. Park to reverse defect much? No, parking brake wasn't engaged. Yeah, I know. Nothing can be done about it now, though. So....yep. Guess that's all from me for a little while. Was really looking forward to Caffeine and Octane next month, too.
Yep....insurance has deemed total loss. Value of $1900. Well above what I would have rated it's NADA value... Damages over $2500.... which seems kinda low, actually....they estimated new doors at only $100 ea, etc. I'd fight it, but to get all the parts I'd need to put into it...I'd be double what I already spent on the car. Wish I could say it was worth it....wonder if I'll get burned at the stake for saying it's not.
Oh Gee just saw this, terrible... This is the perfect reason we all should have classic/stated value insurance... Once it's agreed between you and ins co as to value, that's what it's worth, no more no less(I see a easy 8-10K value)... If registered with collector plates, premiums are usually less than half a regular policy...
You need to see if you can get some type of settlement where YOU get to keep the car and get some type of check/money. Unless I am missing something, from the picture you posted, looks like the car can be fixed.
Cracked windshield Damaged front bumper Damaged pass fender Damaged pass door Damaged pass headlight/bucket Damaged pass A pillar Damaged pass mirror Damaged driver door Damaged driver fender Damaged driver quarter Damaged driver side bumper Etc.... Impacted hard enough that it split the water pump, and broke the fan loose... It's fixable, but there's a lot of damage. I haven't accepted their valuation, was just given the preliminary paperwork on it. Problem is, while I see a car worth at least 4k.... they're looking at book value, and the fact that the interior was stripped, a/c stripped, most things were not working/only sort of working....you know, it was a project that got wrecked. Not a driver. Yeah, should have gone for classic insurance, with an agreed value. Ah well.....
I had the same thing happen to my car back before I had, or even knew about, collector car insurance. An old guy (at that time I was only 32 or so, LOL) turned left in front of me and I t-boned him. His fault. Did $1300 damage to my car and the insurance company said the book value of my car was only $700 so they totaled it. I told them my seats cost more than that! They gave me the $700 and I had to give them $170 back to buy my car back. So even though the accident wasn't even my fault I was out almost $800. Found out later the old guy had just gotten his car back from the shop after being in an accident a few weeks earlier.
when i pay taxes at the courthouse they say the Maverick is worth 8 grand we went round and round about that being it is still a project They said they go by a ''collector'' car book I said come and look at it if you can get 8 grand out of a car torn apart finally settled on ''parts car taxes'' for now . I am going to sell out soon why should I do all the work on something the state does nothing to it except pick my pockets when it is done .The working class doesn't stand a chance anymore they tax everything to death Insurance companies are just as bad threaten to sue them for fair market value they will usually cough up more to avoid court costs
