P.T. Barnum said there's one born everyday, I just wasnt the ONE that day I know you'll find a way to get that power horizontal....and a 5.95 will be within reach. Do the wheels ever stop turnin? where does it end? I'd say on a cool October evening after pullin a 5.45 out of the hat on a 200 shot, but.....pfffft I know better. Then it will be I want the same time without the juice. This is an addiction that is never really satisfied.... and I wouldn't have it any other way.
I'd like to introduce the NHRA's oldest, prodfessional rookie. He will be driving a Top Fuel dragster for the 2007 season. C'mon Rick Porter and let the fans meet-cha.
Surprised they let you get by this long without the jacket. We are going to have some cool weather for the next few days in St. Louis. Low 80's the next 2 days Get you one of these for under the jacket http://stores.yahoo.com/specmiatasuperstore/icevest.html or this will help for a lot less http://stores.yahoo.com/specmiatasuperstore/icebandana.html
That would mean I'd have to be good on the T-brake...I may take me that long to get it down pat Allen thx for the link on the jacket...I'm ordering me one today.
Gunnin for 5's..... I ain't far behind! the old Yeller Maverick made its fastes pass today. 6.08/113 1/8. Lost a little in the 1000' and the 60' was a bit slower than I would have figured it would have been (1.30) But I'm happy with it. After that, I slowed it to 6.22 (short shifting for consistency)...and ran 6.223 in the 1st round, 6.229 2nd, and 6.222 in the 3rd...where I had a crappy .545 light and lost to the opponent's .516. Figures...car runs the same number every time but I can't buy a good light. Last race day I was going round after round with the opponents redlighting or breaking out, and I was having 5-oh and teen lights all day. Just my luck...or lack of it! One of these days I might have these old ragged E-heads hogged out by someone who knows what's going on with them, and maybe then I'll use the transbrake as well and try to run with the big boys. As it was today, I wasn't paying attention to the shift points and on that "fast" run, I must have let it run up to around 7900 or so, the limiter is 8000, and it JUST hit it (barely!) as I shoved the shifter into high. I normally shift around 6800 (more consistent that way) And, last but not least, old guy picked up a flying toilet for cheap. We'll have it on the Fairmont by next season...and hopefully he'll be able to xerox timeslips like the mav does. The 3 tenth improvement in ET will be nice too! Solidly in the 6's for sure (6.90-7.10 now).
Probably liking the cooler weather, I'm looking forward to that first night it's 60 degrees and 50% humidity. I can't pull it all together yet...I'll be cuttin good lights and the car all of a sudden run 2-4 hundreths off like last night or the car hittin it's number and I'll cut a 580 light. I wanna kick myself when I cut a light like that.
Yep. That's bracket racing! Frustrating as can be at times, but on those days when you're "on" it's a great feeling!!
Yesterday was in the 80's, had made up my mind to chop the tree. First pass was .510, then a .491 red and then a .536. Here is the kicker, dial in a 9.10 , run against a 9.20 Mopar(1000ft), he has a .516 and I pull out a .500 with a 9. Run him down and not using good bracket sense lift at the finish line. Run a 9.0943 and go to the house in disgust at myself. Did win one previous race against a Cheby truck with that ominus blue bottle in the bed. He had dialed a 11.00 flat against my 9.09. He gets a decent light against me and is spraying that goofy gas, at the 1/8th I see I can't catch him with my little 331 carbed Ford, so I shut down as if the engine died, he stayed in it and ran 10.70 to lose. Lesson to be learned on his part about sandbagging.
I thought about knockin a little out of the box the other night to Dave..then I decided to try it during something other than eliminations. Been right around the low 20's and high teens lately on the rt with a 1.055 delay. I'm not a kid anymore either and need all the help I can get.
