It is a maverick 73 rebuilding it and powering up
Imagine how does the maverick would look if ford makes the same what they did to musang 2005 isn't it a nice idea?
well at least im gonna do that with mine's
I will place a new grill like the new mustang's, maybe push the headlamps a little inside and making a new hood with all these new styles and smooth curves used today, also a nice looking engine, im thinking in a 351 C PLEASE PLACE SOME IDEAS:Handshake

If you search through some of my old post, you will find a rendering I did based on the same idea.

IMO if Detroit tried to do a tribute, it'd be all wrong. No way could they be loyal to the spirit of the original cars. The beauty of the Mav/Comet is their simplicity. Detroit just doesn't do de-contented cars now, they're loaded up with everything, and Ford has the Mustang to fill that niche. :2cents:

Maybe we need to take a poll and send it to Ford!

I think Ford should pay Dan at least a million dollars for his design...

    looking for a 351W Maverick
OK...you asked for it. Here comes my concept for my own Maverick and I'm signing up for the welding lessons next week. (I have an understanding wife!) The deal is that I love my SHO and it won't be long before the transmission goes like so many others before mine. I'm taking some parts from that car design and attempt to rework a Maverick that I think will be something else!

In my humble and ignorant opinion, a rethinking of the engine is key to a new generation of Maverick. I'd like to create a modifid and updated Maverick that would be called a MAVAHA. (who do I think I am, Mr. Shelby,...hehehe!)

Basically we're talking about the same 1972 car on the outside with these changes for starters
    1) the back has got to have that Shelby tail light section, with some subtle proportioning and scaling
    2) two "shelby" looking fog lights in the grill and a hood with a slight overbite
    3) the headlight eyebrows would peek forward slightly and touch up to the edge of the "overbite hood" just like a mustang
    4) open up the grill a bit like a snarly shark, and a split bumper would look nice as well as add to cooling
    5) a subtle hood scope gradually getting taller toward the rear that opens up near the windshield. This is a false air intake. (stuff gauges in there)
    6) drop in a Yamaha 3.3 inline (modified 3.0) and tweak the electronics to permit the engine to rev up to 11.5k. (don't forget to build an oil cooler, eh?)
    7) T-5? Borg Warner or any HEAVY DUTY 5 speed with the biggest bearings you can get in there to handle the heat and load.
    8) dress up the wheels by using SHO slicer rims and the matching tires
    9) get rid of those shock towers and design a proper front suspension that can handle some serious abuse and have subtle, positive steering control. Maybe the NASCAR "box" for the engine concept might fly here?
    10) You guessed it,...SHO seats and interior color options of gray, black and mocha only. (SHO interior colors)
    11) set the seats back a bit, get rid of the back seat and make a cute storage set up in the rear worked around a descent role cage
    12) design a pass through where the back seat was for luggage, skis, blondes,...what ever!
    13) dual exhausts that are quiet and efficient out the rear to the bumper edge (Sneak up quick and slither off fast!)
    14) the hood opens forward and has releases at the lower hinge arm for complete, quick hood removal
    15) Color/pin stripe trim options: Black/gold, White/blue, Red/silver, Forest Green/white, Navy blue/sky blue, Olive Drab/brown mustard...(baby $hit yellow)

OK,...am I nuts? Have I been banned? Shall I put a bag over my head for a month?
(snicker) Welding classes start next week....look out Car & Driver!
Yes, it's retro and speaks to the Mustang of yester year, but there's an engine in there now that's not to be messed with.

Thanks for the compliments guys! One of these days when I have more time I will do a more in depth rendering of the Maverick concept. I think the new generation should be a 2 seat sports car. Ford could do it and they could do it way cheaper than the new Mustang but with the same quality.
