Headers for 351W Mavericks?

  1. Do you think headers can be made where only shock tower mods are needed?

  3. If long tube headers was an easier installtion, would you consider a 351W in your Maverick?

Hey, I know this is an old thread...
    BUT... ;)

    Are there any updates?
There are actually several companies that make 1.5" swap headers for us, but that just won't do.
I want 1.75" and will go to Hookers to get it, unless your contact is going to make a better fitting set.
    Thanks
    Dave

The vendor I was talking with kept telling me he had two or three customers who had put 1 3/4" headers for a Mustang in their Mavs without tower modifications. I pressed for names, addresses, and phone numbers. The two he gave me were incorrect. Go figure. The Galaxie guys swear by this guy.

Tubular is the type of company that would try something new if it had enough customers.
I know that right now they only make 1.5" swap headers, but with enough orders, they would certainly make a bigger set.
I have had 2 sets of their headers, so I know they are of good quality, but I also know how expensive they are too...
It seems to me that if I were to design a set of LTs for our cars, 2 pipes would go forward and under on each side and 2 would go back and down on each side.
The 6802s seem to have plenty of room around them, but the pipes aren't placed quite right.
    Just some food for thought

    They are 'old school'. ;)
I do have their snail mail addy and phone somewhere if anyone would like it. I would have to dig a little, but I got some of their catalogs.

I quit persuing the vendor I was talking with about making headers when he kept insisting that 1 3/4" ones he made for Mustangs would work in Mavs without tower mods. He gave me the names and numbers of three "customers" who were happy with the Mustang headers in their Mavericks. I called all three numbers and they were not correct. I even did searches on the names he gave and came up empty. My trust factor for the guy went way, way down.

I made the ones that fit my old setup...stock front end w/351 9.5" deck. They were 1 3/4" tubes 3" collector long tube design.

They fit....tight....but they fit. If I can build them at home in a 2 car garage, I'm sure any competent header builder can do it in their shop and make some $$$.

I had them in the classifieds for about 6 months and there seemed to be no interest in them. If finally cut them up and threw them out (used a couple tubes for my old 4 wheeler's exhaust). I would have figured that with the number of folks that are constantly asking the same "351 swap header" question that they would have sold for what little I was asking.

    This thread is about 1 3/4 " headers for a 351w type engine in a Maverick /Comet.

The link you posted is for off the shelf headers for 302 equipped cars.
It shows 2 bl on all of the listings because our cars never came with a 4 barrel.
