Crites 1 3/4" headers. Do a search there's a TON of threads and those seem to be the best fitting headers by far. http://critesperformanceparts.com/
hooker 6901. It hits a bolt on the passenger side (cut off some threads off the bolt), it hits the manual steering thing (have a nice dent in the header but still fully functional), and it hits the driver's side part of the frame rail that I massaged with an air hammer.
I have slight contact at the steering gearbox, and the drop bracket with the 6901's. Manual steering cars seem to have the biggest interference with the pitman arm. I had an old set of alumi-coated BlackJack headers on my manual steering 73 model and they fit perfectly. Unfortunately, they are no more.
Has anybody ever had an Issue with Hedman headers? I hear hit and miss with the 6901 but never heard of an issue with Hedman.
clarification on Hedman headers Maybe they updated the design back then. The only problem I have with hedmans is that you cant say "I have a pair of hookers in my car" They also have thicker flange than the 6901s, which is nice. Something that is bad about both headers is the collector(Where the HP is made), have you guys ever looked at them? They look like total crap(but then again both are bottom line headers). I have no doubt you can easily double the HP gain by switching to a merge style collector. And they sell slip fit ones too for those who don't have welders.
I really like the merge collectors myself. In the past, we actually saw midrange hp gains after installing them.
