Headliner installation tips

    I put mine in the other day.. Used 3m adhesive and it ate through my paint.. My paint is 2 weeks old.. But still ate through it and makes me want to puke.

    1977 Maverick 2 door with a 302.
    The adhesive ate through your paint? I have never heard of that happening before. Can I ask what brand of paint is on your car? Was it a single stage paint or a base coat clear coat?

    I was quoted $220 for my install. That was with the windows out and me supplying the headliner.

    Nason bc/cc....after it happened i went down to the shop i got it from, told them what happened, all i got was.."oh really..i think i heard of that before, sucks"

    like really? how do you know it sucks? you just didn't spend every day for 9 months replacing everything and dong bodywork. makes me a little made thinking about it:(

    I used brush on contact cement, that they sell at NPD for headliner installations.

    I did mine, even wrote up a tech about it. I used vise grips to hold mine, along with clothes pins. If I had of had a heat gun, it would have went in a little better, but it still wasn't too bad of a job.

    Like somebody said, I had more trouble with the winsheild than the headliner. For sure need a buddy when you go to install it.
