I can't get any heat out of the heater in my 73 maverick w/air. I have flushed the heater core. There is not control for the water flowing into the heater. The hoses go from the engine straight to the heater. The vaccum lines are all dead. I would like to just set the doors so it heats all the time. Can some one tell me how to do this??

Can you get the air flow to change from defrost to dash to floor, etc?

Yes, I know where that lever is and I can move it manualy. I don't know where the lever is to switch from Air conditioning to heat.

That would be the same switch.

You say all the "vacuum lines are dead". What do you mean?

The temp control operates blend(temp) door and is cable operated.

Vacuum controls A/C vents, defrost & floor outlets,.

THere is vaccum to the two little vaccum connections on the engine side of the fire wall. There is vaccum to the little switch in the middle of the heater but that valve is blown out. All the other vacum lines have no vaccum at all.

My manuel says that that little vaccum switch in the middle of the heater box is the heater control valve. it is situated so that when you move the cable it moves a lever on this tiny little thing. My car is in Tn and I am in CO so I am not looking at it.

Unless you have a tight, leak-free vacuum system....none of it will really work.

Mine doesn't have vac connected at all, leaks like the proverbial sieve. Has no heater control valve & heat temp is adjustable(makes very good heat in fact) but it's always coming out d-frost and floor.

I flushed the heater. Water came through fine. But I get no heat whatsover from the floor or defrost. Next time I drive it I am going to feel the heater hoses just to make sure that they are hot. I can't find a heater control valve. The heater hoses go directly from the engine to the heater conections on the fire wall so i am thinking that there is no heater control valve. Any other Ideas?

I don't have a heater control valve on mine. All it does is shut off the coolant flow when A/C is on, defiantly not your problem.
