IMG_1169.JPG IMG_1178.JPG IMG_1182.JPG So just thought I'd say hello to everyone and see if you guys can't answer a question for me.

A few weeks ago I picked up a 73 maverick 250 with 80k miles. Planning on dropping a 302 in it in about a year or so (once I can find a good deal and rebuild one).

Car runs & drives great! I'm really loving it! I built a 69 nova many years ago and already I like the maverick so much more!

A few days ago I was driving to work and noticed the car was getting hot (could smell the antifreeze before the light even came on). Was only a minute from work so just made and popped the hood. The belts that turn the fan / water pump, ac, and alternator weren't spinning. The ps pump was though. Turned the motor off and spun the fan by hand and it turns easy (none of the other pulleys are seized). It looks like the pulley attached to the crank split in two... so the two grooves that are supposed to spin the fan is just slipping on the rest of the pulley.

I've tried searching for crankshaft pulley & harmonic balancer online but none of the picture look like what I have. So I don't know if I'm calling it the wrong thing or what but any help would be greatly appreciated. And if anyone has one lying around I'd love to take it off your hands.

I don't want to invest too much since I plan on swapping the 302 later but I would love to get it moving again.

    Thanks in advance guys!
    Jonathan

    :Welcome: to the forum,

I'm sure someone will have a pulley for you if that ends up being what you need. Post an ad in the "wanted" section for better results.

the problem you describe sounds like a unique one...I've never heard of a pulley splitting...
may we see a pic of this?

Well that's wierd but sounds like the crank pulley has separated... I know some have outer sections welded to the inner...

I'd pull it off and take a look(maybe get it rewelded?), the harmonic balancer just about has to be OK or the P/S would not be spinning...

That's definitely separated. Should be able to have it welded.
