Welcome from Colorado. As has been mentioned, this site and its members have a wealth of Maverick knowledge. Autokrafters, Melvins, and Craig Selvey are great for parts. I wouldn't discount the split bench seat covers. I had some on my first Mav and they worked well. Have fun building the car with your son!

Welcome from Florida. Nice car and an even better plan for you and your son, you can never replace those fond times showing your son how to wrench on his first car. Enjoy!

Welcome from Spokane. I moved from Alaska to Spokane last June and have been very successful finding parts in Washington. Pull and Save (North Yard) has 4 Mavericks you can get parts off of, however they have been pretty well picked over, worth the $2 to get in and check it out, never know what you'll find. Also, check out Craigslist...lot of Maverick parts here in WA.

Here is a Grabber Hood on Spokanes Craigslist

    Best regards

Welcome to the Maverick universe ....Looks like you have a good starting point and time spent working on it with your kid will make for good memories for both of you.

As mentioned, a Chilton's manual is good for guiding you through a lot of what you might encounter in general repairs. Another brand of manual is Haynes, and I have learned to avoid them.... they just have never seemed to be as thorough as Chilton's. Also look around for Ford manuals. On eBay you can find original Ford manuals that have been digitized files for your computer and those tend to be affordable. A chance find that came out of a swap meet was an original Ford Body Repair manual that was written in the late 70s. It has lot of part numbers handy, and they are the latest revisions recommended ... part numbers change throughout the run as parts are improved, etc.

BTW .... here is a good guide to decoding Ford part numbers .... it really is common sense once you get the gist of it (although, I just got a 2012 and I think they mixed it up a bit in recent years)
