I'm new here and new to Mavericks or really just older cars in general. Trying to get this rough car I have into road-worthy shape. Trying to learn as much as I can.
Well... It had really bad windshield and cowl leaks but i fixed that temporarily, it needs a new fuel tank, it's basically rough around the edges in most areas. I have all the parts also. I'm not too worried about making it pretty, I just want it to be able to go and stop lol
I'm not sure why it double posted the pictures. BTW I'm gonna end up just deleting heat and air. Would anybody be interested in the ac pump when I take it off?
It's going to be a fair weather car. At least those are my intentions. My vent hoses are rotten, I'm sure the heater core is bad because the carpet on that side was stained with coolant (plus if your not careful you can put your foot through the floor by that side's kick panel), water was coming straight in through the fresh air vents from the cowl grille and at each end of the cowl down in the gap between it and the fenders. I've stopped all water coming in surprisingly. Now I just want to make sure that the necessities work.
I also figure without the AC, that would be less drag on this old engine and with the condenser out of the way there would be better air flow across the radiator when the car is in motion, plus less weight on the car (I figure this ac pump is rather heavy) and less clutter under the hood with all the heat/air stuff out of the way.
Welcome from Portland, OR. If you want to learn about old cars, you are on track for just that. Take your time and do a lot of reading....It will save time and $.
