Hi, my name is J.Rob, and I am a Mavoholic. It has been 35 years since I bought, and 25 years since I let go of my first Mav, my first car... and 30 years have elapsed since a brief flirtation with a Comet GT. And even now, I know I am still hooked. I have rebuilt and flipped most of the autos I have ever wanted to own, and am settling into an unwanted early retirement. With lots of time on my hands, and a few years since my last project I am faced with the reality that I will be lapsing into my old Mav habits once again. My first was a Polar White 74 Mav 302 with HD Suspension, Shocks, Front Stabilizer Bar, and Front Disc Brakes. The Comet GT was a Competition Yellow 71 302 with buckets and floor shifter. A few other Mavs went through my hands fairly quickly in my first 10 years of driving, including a Blue Grabber and a Red Stallion. When I let go of my first and last 74, The Mighty Mav, I thought I was done. Alas, that was not to be. Given that I am now coming to the realization that I will once again be surrendering to the unrelenting call of the Maverick, I have decided that I will be building the unicorn(s) that I always wanted... A Boss and a couple of Mexicans may be on that list. I am doomed.
Being that you are a Mavoholic you are required to attend meetings here at least once a week, you will be surrounded by many in the same boat as you and that have had the addiction as long or longer than you, there is no cure just prolonged joy. Their are several others in the Seattle area with the same addiction so feel free to reach out for help from them if you need one on one consolation
LOL.....welcome from Portland OR. That Mexican Shelby has quite the mystique about it......but no one builds one. I thought about a watered down version, but am not sure I can live with green.
I was thinking of building a Boss first, before going South of the Border to do a GT351, and then a Shelby. As far as the Shelby goes, there are 9 different 'green' Ford colors to choose from, including Reef Aqua for 71s, if I choose to not to pick from the 21 or so other colors available. Who said the unicorns were only Ivy Glow Metallic with Black seats. If I did go green, it might just end up Grabber Lime with a blackout hood and stripe and a Avocado interior (with Mustang buckets). My unicorn, my choice. ;^)
Wow! You got some energy........I just might be one and done, but there may be a 5 speed in my future.
