Hi guys, My name is Paul and I currently live in Salt Lake City, Utah with my beautiful wife and daughter. I am 27 years old, and I purchased a 1970 Ford Maverick to turn into a pro-touring car. I am very excited for this project. Ironically I do F&I for a Mercedes-Benz dealership, but I have bled Ford blue for my entire life. I also picked up a donor 1997 Lincoln Mark VIII for the Teksid 4.6 4V and the IRS. I constantly hear "just LS swap it" from my friends, but my stubborn self has the whole build already in mind. (Supposedly the IRS cradle is the same as the similar year Thunderbird and Cobra, so I'm sure fitting it in the little Maverick will be a "fun" process.) I have fabrication experience and am not afraid of a welder, which I know will come in handy. Glad to be on the boards among other Mav owners! -Paul A.
Welcome to the site from northeast Ohio!!!! 27 years old a wife a young child and a hobby car. Well done!!!!!!
Welcome to the forum Paul! Don't know what F&I is, but my son is Master Certified Tech for MB in Mississippi; he was here in Chicago area for weekend training course.
I have no formal engineering experience, but I do have about 12 years building and designing trophy truck and class 8 truck roll cages, suspensions, and chassis. Hopefully that translates over to road racing, haha. And F&I is just short for finance and insurance. I'm the annoying guy in the back office that tries to sell you an extended warranty.
Ok, on finance and insurance! Looks like your experience in automotive fab/building puts you in position to possibly pull the project off. I am sure a lot of interest in following progress/process. BTW: I bought a Dodge Caravan a few years ago and the sales-lady sold me extended "Chrysler" warranty; I want to say, I normally wudn't buy a extended warranty. The reason I bought the warranty, had mechanical reliability w/ past Chrysler products. I bought the car cuz it was only type vehicle w/ the space and seating config. I use for my other hobbies and utility uses. So far, no issues.
Welcome from Portland, OR. Good luck with your project....it sounds like you will be doing a bit of pioneering in the fab department, although there are a few guys around here that have put in 4.6s.
