Welcome to the board.I gotta go with wardf on this.As much as I like these cars, they really arent that valuable(especialy with a 6).Id go with a carbed 5.0 with a 5-speed or aod,at least front discs, but dress it up to look stock. If its done right, these mods would probably increase the value(if youre worried about what its worth)and almost all of it could be swapped back to original...but these cars just scream to be modified, dont you think?!

Original = boring. It's one of the reasons that Mavericks/Comets were so neglected and got so little respect during the '70s and '80s. Nice body-style but otherwise boring car. I'd never keep one of these cars "original". There are so many ways available for upgrading a Maverick/Comet while retaining most of the stock exterior appearance. I'm a "resto-mod" guy all the way. There's nothing novel or cool about factory drum front brakes, points ignition systems, single exhaust systems, skinny tires & wheels, weak suspensions, AM radios, "idiot" warning lights, etc. Mavericks are cool cars when the right kind of TLC is applied...

Well an update. Picked up a 631/2 Galaxie that is the current project, so after the Galaxie, the comet, there is the Mav. Cya. 1970Grabber

Makes it easier and more enjoyable.

    Robert,
:Welcome: , Whatever way you go with it is better than letting it sit and deteriorate. But I agree with "your car, your choice". I did vote for the resto mod, stock looks- more power, but then thats my opinion. Sounds like theres no shortage of projects for you.

Well gents, a little update is in order. Have my 63 in pretty good order, and entertain thoughts of selling the girl to finance the others, but....
My Mav is still at my parents, and we have bought a house now. BUT, there will be room sometime in the future to bring the baby home and get started on it. It needs it all, and wont be cheap, but what the heck, its family.
Am leaning heavily towards a mild 302, and hopefully a 5 speed, and Torquethrust wheels. Keeping the rest stock, including the interior.
Need to get it home, as dad says someone stops by every month or so and asks about it.

sounds good. i know 4 speeds are fun but i'm sticking with the auto for my sprint. going with a mild 331 stroker though. and i'm keeping the a/c.:)
