    Attached to the bottom of the front bench seat with a wire attached. What does it do? Thanks

    connects to bottom pass. seat spring for the seat belt warning.

    Yes your guess is right, it is the sensor that tells the fasten seat belt lamp and buzzer that someone is sitting in the seat.
