Funny....it didn't slow mine down and it was only about 450 HP or thereabouts. It actually gained some ET, both the 60' and 1/8. It's all in the converter...if the converter is 'off' than the whole combo is crap. Mines a 9 1/2" 5000 built by Bill Dowdy. Stalls approx 5000-5200 depending on weather and trans temp.

Would like to know more about your 351 specs. 7900 is pretty high R's. Would like to build one like that myself if you don't mind letting out the info. The converter is not matched, is my opinion too, what size rear end do you have, 9inch I assume. The glide should work great with the right stall and rear gears, if you are bracket racing, they are ungodly consistent for et's over the c4 and the extra shift. If you are heads up, bragging rights racing, the c4 or glide, would be my choice there along with nitrous, blowers, turbo's and any other go fast stuff. Just remember, like good wine, all the ingredients must work with each other to achieve that superb taste, called "Speed and ET's"

talk to charlie or chris at ati. they make a great converter (not cheap) and their fall sale is coming up soon. be sure to have all your engine and car info on hand for them to do a really good job for you. lots of info. everything from cam specs, intake, stroke, cr, rear gear & tire, to chassis setup. arguably the best converter company out there right now.

put the c4 back in with a good converter the c4 2 and 3 are the same ratio as a pg like running with no low gear thats why your 60 ft is off the c4 is less $$$$$$$$$$$ to run

Still holding out,Had to put funds in the house this month fran and ivan is making me put a roof on. I am ticked off though a buddy put a chevy powered mustang at 7.16 this past week on motor. I don't think he has much more than me, better heads and lighter car. Not Much, he also did it with a turbo 350. got to get a converter ready to to racing in the cool weather.

    Alright Guys,
Well I got my house in the dry a couple weeks ago. I have also been searching for sales on convertors. The Coan website had a referbed 8" convertor for the app that I needed. I did call to check it out before I bought it. I put it in wed night a week ago for test n tune thurs. What do you know we got more rain again like we need it. I work an odd scedule so I missed out on last Sun. Tommorrow I plan going again, Guess What? Calling for rain. I also put a set of race mufflers on yesterday maybe help, not sure we will see. I live on a dead end road so had to do a couple squirts to see. About 4500 is what I'm getting on stall feel's like it is getting to some hp now we will see.

Made two passes today before the rain fell. First pass 60' was 1.540 ran a 7.260, 94.674 mph shifting at 6500 ran out at about 8500. The second was 1.540 shifting at 7500 it ran 7.274 94.770 turning about 7900 top end. the car was flare shifting between first to second badly, it didn"t do that before. can't understand that
I can't understand why it is still turning so much top end and started flare shifting at that any suggestions. I heard that that could be changed in the valve body. I am footbraking the car at between 3000 and 4000 on the line. Bean

Called Coan today to see why the car is turning so much maybe got some helpful info. He suggested that the tach could be reading wrong. It is a Autometer Sport Comp that I bought from a friend that had a Grand National 6cyl. I didn't have a diagram to look at when I put it in. Just checked Autometer's website for instructions, the brown wire that loops in the back has to be cut for 6cyl. I haven't checked it yet but I'm pretty sure that wire was cut. Hope that is it, so rpms will be more realistic...
As for the trans the linkage could have came out of adjustment. My luck that's what happened but got the clutches. I will get a chance to work on it Wed. I would like shave to 2 tenths off to compeat in the 6.99 heads up class. Getting to bugs out of a car when everything is still pretty new yet is a pain.

Fordman on those afr heads have you had porting or any work on them. AFR seems to be the most common ford head at the strip. Most of the cars I seen them on run really well. I would like to go to an aluminium head for the weight. Anyway that I'm dreaming rightnow I need to get down the track with what I have. With that gear what 60' are you getting.

the heads are out of th box they come CNC new. I have did valve job and valve springs thats all. I have ran 1.46 60 10.70 but i went to a new cam this year and lost 60 & et (1.50 11.07) I have my motor down now i will go back to my old cam. The new cam was just to big. When you get ready for the AFR i will give you the parts numbers on what i have ran if it will help and i would buy the heads without the valves and springs to build them for the solid roller cam set up
