you have a 157 tooth flywheel in a 164 tooth bell. change whichever you prefer or will work best with your set up. might not have to drop headers, but would make it a lot simpler.
So I can assume that a 164 tooth flywheel is 14" in diameter and a 157 is about 13"? Sure beats counting the teeth if that is the case ... Thx
Around '70 or so something changed that required the use of a starter nose piece that was longer and had a bigger opening so that the gear would move about 3/8" further into the flywheel ring gear. Seems to me it was a change in the thickness of the crank flange. Before the change manual trans and autos used different starters. After the change manual and automatics used the same starter.
Thanks for confirming .... 164 is what I need. You got one for sale? Gotta be in great shape, no chipped teeth and not need resurfacing .... I have a brand new Billet 157 tooth to trade!
I have about 4 different toploader bell-housings I have for sale. If somebody can let me know what the differences are, maybe I can sell Dan the right one for his flywheel.
Hmmm - wouldn't I need a different backing plate as well? Gotta take the flywheel off anyway to get that off .... and the bellhousing needs this type of clutch fork bracket ...
Thanks for all the help guys .... I ended up ordering one of these: http://www.jegs.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ProductDisplay?prrfnbr=109793&prmenbr=361 It is drilled so I can atleast reuse by 10 1/2" RAM HD Clutch set I bought ....
