hi, New member here. Have a 1971 Maverick and the L & R directional don't work. All lights work, and hazards work. Have replaced the entire switch assembly on steering wheel. Have replaced flasher....wiring diagram shows 2 flashers..one for turn signal & one for hazard...but I can only find 1 which is next to fuse block..when I remove it, the hazards stop...is there a 2nd one I cant find for turn signals? any other ideas?
Yes, there is a second one up under the dash, I dont exactly remember where, but I believe its up between the heater controls and instrument panel.
from Lizella Ga. My 75 model does have one between the steering column and the heater controls. It is difficult to see and reach. Ray
Drivers side directionals flash/blink as normal but passenger side doesn’t (Hazards work fine) so I’m assuming I need to replace the directional flasher which is hard to get to from what I’m reading. Any suggestions on how to replace it without removing the gauge cluster? Thanks!
Yeah, don't remove cluster, ain't necessary. Remove Steering wheel, screws that attach signal sw & unplug connector from under dash. Will pull out.
Wasn’t able to get to it the way that was suggested. I did unscrew the dash cluster ( only 3 screws) and just pulled it out enough to see the flasher to the left of the fuel gauge cluster. Not sure how the old flasher is held it but I was able to unplug it, plug in the new one and feed it down to where the emergency brake lever is and just tuck it in there so the next time I have to replace it, I don’t have to take anything apart. Hope this is helpful to others. Thanks!
Sorry was thinking you said signal switch. A flasher 99% isn't going to cause one side to blink but not other. Socket, wiring, switch, incorrect bulb yes.
