71 gold as im starting the car the switch doesnt retract back after starting it,i have to turn it back myself
That's probably linkage or a lubrication problem with the wheel locking mechanism. The return spring is inside the ign sw that's mounted on top of column, just under dash. If that's problem it's new switch time. You'll have to remove steering wheel to replace lock. Switch is replaceable by unbolting column and allowing it to drop a couple inches.
If key is tight turning to start and back to on, something is binding or needs cleaned/lubricated. If it turns easily to start position and back to on, 99% a switch problem.
thanks for the tip in this case it sounds like a switch problem an dby switch u are talking about the switch mounted down on the column correct?
I would change that switch, assuming it's the original, regardless, making it a process of elimination. If that's not the problem -- keep looking. It's not expensive or difficult thing to do.
