pinto my friends call my car the banana gt to piss me off but most people i dont know think its a pinto and one time i had a guy that wouldnt believe my car was a comet,he thought it was a mav with 60's comet badges dont get me wrong i love mavs but he just wouldnt believe me
I have people always taking a second look. Mavericks and Comets are nice cars. I think they are more exciting, because they are not always in the spot light. I seen a new Austin Martin last summer and thought it had similar lines as the Maverick.
Just tell em its a chevy....lol put 70 camaro tail lights in it and a big blue bowtie from the front of a 6 cyl 69 camaro in the grill. Watch 'em bleed out their ears with THAT one..HAHAHAHA
Hey, we already got one guy with Impala tail lights in his car...that's enough!!! But we do still let him come around every now and then. Well...actually much too often. He actually has more posts than anyone on the board!
I find the younger crowd seem to have no idea what they are. Older folks usually say I had one or someone in their family did but it didn't look anything like this, lol. Either way, I feel most people appreciate them. I really like that mystery about our cars. They are a breed apart from the rest of the herd.
Challenger, Camaro, Mustang, "that car from Death Proof"... The list goes on and on. "Oh do you have a 351 in there?".. Yeah I wish..
ehh most everyone knows mines a maverick. I dont get ANY compliments on it though. When i drove it to work 2 days ago, one co worker called me white trash for painting it orange and another said its a heap (cause its a ford.) Keep in mind the one that called me white trash was 26 years old and hes really...something else. The other guy is almost 50 and grew up on chevy's....im 19. either way i dont care what they think cause i like what i did to it. oh and the guy that called it a heap mistaked it for a dodge dart (probably cause i told him i owned one.)
Man, I get such overwhelmingly positive response and comments about my car, it's just hard to believe there are people out there that are actually like that. EVERYONE where I work loves the Maverick. Even the security guards out at the guards gates. If I drive the Mustang or Nissan, they always stop me as I'm pulling in or leaving and ask where the Maverick is. Even one of the guys in upper management over all of Kubota Manufacturing of America stopped me in the parking lot one day and wanted to check the car out. He loved it, said he had a buddy years ago that had a '76.
I had that when I was younger also. I figured that they where just jealous, cuz they drove junk. I find that more and more people are gaining interest in these cars, just cause you don't see many of them compared to camaros, mustangs, and others. Which I feel is equal to in most respects. Hell I own a 66 chevelle ss and I still prefer to drive my maverick more. People seem to be more freindly when your in the mav!
I was showing photos of mine in the rough state that it was when I was looking at buying it and he said "what do you want with a Pinto?" I said " Nothing at all, that's why I'm getting this Maverick!" Other than that I heard some of the boys that sit outside the bar I drive by on the way home yell "hey, look at that Maverick!" Somebody knows what they are. I get the from kids walking down the road, they may not know what it is but they know its old and hot roddy. Often I see people in traffic turning their heads to get a better look at it because they don't see one every day like we do. Makes me feel good to drive it around even though it has a $100 Tractor Supply paint job.
my parents said they were jealous...haha. I dont know, they do drive crappy asian imports. The older guy drives a toyota pickup and the younger guy drives a really crappy nissan. Either way, i love my car, my friends love my car and i could care less what stupid worthless co workers think.
It's all good as long as you like your Maverick or Comet, with that in mind than who cares what anyone else thinks.
