No dyno #s. It is running good, but it is so hot here that i don't drive it, and currently, the inspection sticker is out of date. I will get the inspection back up in September, so I can legally attend the Texas Mini Meet. No dyno until I get the transmission built up enough to handle the engine... All I can say at this point is "seat of pants" feels REALLY GOOD, but I fear I will blow out the transmission, since it is stock, exactly as it rolled off the showroom floor (except for the shift-kit I put in it). I have to admit that 6500 rpm shift sounds and feel really cool... I never got anywhere near that with the old motor. Maybe 5500.
Wooo, it's all stripped down, I soaked in in carb cleaner (man it stinks) rinsed, blown out with compressed air, now it's ready for re assembly tomorrow. I have a list of about 5 things that were wrong with it, we'll see tomorrow once it's installed and running.
Helps to also blow out the passages with spray carb cleaner and visually check to see these are clear. Wear eye protection for this. Afterwards I then blow them clear with the air compressor.
When you get done putting it together, and you go to dump the carb cleaner, you may find a BB in the bottom... May want to dump the carb cleaner BEFORE reassembly...
I like taking a paper towel soaked with pb blast and rubbing it on the surface areas to help keep luster and minimize chances of oxidizing. I even spray it on moving parts, all for peace of mind anyway...
Yeah, watch out for the squirter circuit valves. Older carbs use a bb under the squirters, new versions use an aluminum cylinder shaped valve. Under the accellerator pump(s), is there a bb trapped in the bowl, or is it an orange rubber umbrella? Just curious. That is a good indication of age. Also, the umbrella type makes a more responsive carb. Good luck Hope it runs like new!
And use vegetable oil on reusable gaskets (blue ones, not brown) on the bowls. Something to keep it from sticking so you can pull them off later and reuse them. I actually sprayed PAM on mine.
When I bought the carb kit, I made sure it came with the blue gaskets. Everything is all cleaned up, blown out with air, followed by carb cleaner, so it's ready for re-assembly in the morning, it's Corona time!!
...but is any of it...usefull information... someone pointed out... "He means from "Joe Blow" online... he researches education sites instead of listening to everyone on forums." ......
