    Hey, Killer--

That is a clean looking and slick orange paint scheme.
    Got any other pics?

Was it a GT to start with?

    To tell if it was....

Look under the passenger side rocker panel and tell
us what is stamped under there.
I do not know if it is true but supposedly there is a
particular stamp there that identifies Comet GT's
and Grabber Mavericks. I have seen that posted
on this message board, but have never been able
    to confirm it.

Let the debate begin on that one...

    Re: hmmm

The one on the Mustang is a combination scoop and cowl. More of a function thing than styling.

It REALLY keeps the engine compartment VERY cool. One can make a pass, pop the hood and easliy place your hand on the upper manifold without burn.

I DO want to get a cowl induction type for my Maverick (like I need another hood ay, DAB? :D)

Littleredtoy, I believe I meantioned a while back that on the underside of both rocker panels on my Mav it has the number 62 stamped in big, bold letters in the middle of them. I don't think that the Grabber/Gt ones will read any different because they are the same body style. The 4-doors however, I would expect to be stamped with 54. Unfortunatly the stampings don't come with the suffix stamped on them as well; Regular Maverick 2 doors were body type 62A, and Grabbers were 62D. Thus all 2-door Mavs can't be designated from the stamp on the rocker, unless Grabbers have the suffix which I don't know why they would. A rocker is a rocker.(I am almost positive they are marked 62 as well, but I don't have a Grabber to check that on) All 2 door Comets were designated 62B. Here is how the Body Serial and Type codes break down:

    91/62A - Standard 2-door Maverick
    92/54A - Standard 4-door Maverick
    93/62D - Maverick Grabber
    30/54B - Standard 4-door Comet
    31/62B - Standard 2-door Comet, and GT

***The number on the left of the slash appears in the vin. The right is the body type code found on the data sticker, etc.****

The best way for you to tell if it was a Grabber would be the vin number where the 3rd and 4th numbers would be 9 and 3, or 93. With the standard 2-door Mavs it would be 91. Unfortunatly, with the info I have there is no real way to designate, by numbers, the Gts from the standard Comets. A few things to clue you to whether it is a Gt is a black (usually) interior, dual sport mirrors, hood scoop, and rear spoiler. Since the paint is not original, you can't tell by the stripes if there were any in the first place. I notice you don't have a passenger's side mirror. Maybe it was not a Gt, unless someone ordered it without the Sport Mirrors (it happened). Was there a scoop on it before you put that one on? Is there a spoiler? Sorry I talked for so long, but I am trying to explain what to look for to denote whether it is a GT or not. Either way, it is a very nice car. I like the old style Mustang GT stripes. It looks very nice. I hope this helps you out.

No Comet ever came with a rear spolier from the factory. I have also seen Comet GT's with a blue interior, as well as a white interior.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks for the heads up on the spoiler issue, Craig. I remembered that something on the GT was different than the Grabber, but I couldn't remember what.
