I want to check the operation of the temperature control cable. Any idea what I need to remove to get to it. I already have the cross member removed. And I have full access on the passenger side. Thanks.

    What cross member?

Which end of the cable are you trying to remove?

Hi Craig. The cross member is the piece of steel that runs along the low side of the dash with two bolts fastening it at each end. I just finished replacing the heater core and the box is back together. I want to have a look at the cable attached to the temperature lever to the left of the steering wheel. It does not have full travel even when it is disconnected from the control lever at the plenum box. Here are two shots showing the extent of its travel. The knob will not travel to the top and also the movement of the cable is not enough to move the flapper from one extreme to the other. How does one get in under to take a look at the cable head on the driver’s side to look for an issue? I thought maybe someone has done this before. Thanks.

Here is what that cross member looks like.( probably not the right term), but since I have the dash taken apart I hope to resolve the cable issue while I can reach in under it.
