rated for 450 HP it will hold up to a small block. I would be surprised if it had anything very special in it - probably a stock tranny build with a TransGo -2 kit. % clutches in the forward pack and 4 clutches in the direct pack. Be sure to put a big cooler on it at least 20000 lb rating. That way it will be a lot of years before you have to do anything more than maintenance. Change your oil between 500 and 1000 miles and then every 20000 - 24000 after that and adjust the bands at the same time. It will last a long time.

PaulS rebuilt my C-4. I added a 2500 stall. The trans shifts like a dream, getting rubber when I shift manually. WooHoo! Thanks Paul, it's still holding up....To bad I can't say that, for the motor. It's back at the college, with an internal noise. Sounds like the top end. I may be putting those 289 heads on it after all.....We'll see what they find out....

All of the shifters are fine for an auto shifting w/ manual shift. All than means is that when you put it in second it will go into second. If you shift to low gear doing 120 it will shift into low gear - and turn your engine to 12000 rpm! ouch!!!

    Coop,
what happened? upper engine noise? on a 302? It is probably rockers or a worn lobe on the cam. Be sure to replace cam and lifters if it has gone bad. Are those heads polished or anything yet? (NO) They need a lot of work Coop - you know what they came out of - and in what condition! If the car is down do you want to refresh it? Its been 5 or 6 years since I put it together for you. (it probably only has another 5 years in it) I'll bet you haven't changed the oil in it yet have you? You still have that other tranny that needs to be gone through too. I won't charge you much - brothers don't have to pay full price.
