I've tried oven cleaner, and it didn't do anything. I'm going to see if I can get some of this tomorrow.
Looks like it did a great job! My question is,can you do this with the trim on the car? I can't see taking all your trim off just to clean it! I don't think this material would be good for your paint, and I do know when it is in a clogged pipe it gets the pipe kinda hot!
Thanks for the tip. I have most of the trim off my car because I am in the process of painting it. I wanted to clean the trim to make the paint look better and this could be just what I was looking for!!
Just a tip... after doing the cleaner thing, use Happich simichrome paste to finish the hand polish. I do a ton of metal restoration and polishing and this stuff is great not only does it polish like crazy but leaves a protective coating to halt corrosion. All my polished aluminum on my custom bike gets hit once a year with it and you can read the newspaper in it. Many people at the shows comment on the "Nice Chrome" nope polished aluminum !
That's pretty impressive. So on our cars, this applies to the trim around the windshield and back glass and the tailight housings, correct?
Not on the front windshield. Those are stainless. It should work on the back glass moldings though. Headlight bezels, hood lip, and tail lights.
I tried this on an old pair of tail light bezels today. Getting the drain cleaner to say on the bezel without rolling off didn't happen like on the video. I then used a sprayer from a bottle of mag cleaner but it would only spray a stream and not mist. If the parts were in a small tub or container it probably will work better. The second treatment showed more promising but didn’t remove all the anodized coating. A 3rd application will be needed. This could mean only two possible reasons, 1.) My bezel is 10 years newer. 2.) Ford did a better job anodizing their aluminum than chevy. The 1st photo is the "before pic"...2nd pic is after one treatment...3rd pic is after the 2nd treatment.
Nice results for sure. I can't wait to see some headlight bezels done. I am thinking of doing this then painting them the usual black leaving the circle in polish.. if that makes sense I saw someone asked about the stainless. I take it we can not do this to the stainless? There is other stainless on the car other than the windshield. Rain gutter trim Qtr window trim Windshield trim Window trim GT grill trim What else? Mighta been easier to list what isn't stainless lol
I'm about to try it out on my spare headlight bezel this weekend. Got the Hair and Grease remover the other week when I was looking for some paint. Got the paint the other day so I can finally get something done this weekend hopefully.
