    I know this is a old thread but just trying to figure out some info on my 75 Comet. 443E1B68-BCFC-44C0-8B4D-067DC1452BBE.jpeg
    I’ve figured out this much so far.
    5= 1975
    K=Kansas City
    31=2 door Comet
    L= 250 I6

    Body / 62B = ?
    Color / 3MGB = ? (Original color appears to be light blue):vomito:
    Trim / MB = ? (interior is MIA)
    Trans/ W = C4 auto
    Axle / 3 = 8 inch 2:79
    DSO / 34 = ?

    Any help deciphering the rest would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Body / 62B = ? Comet 2 door sedan
    Color / 3MGB = ? (Original color appears to be light blue):vomito: 3M is Silver Blue Metallic. I think GB is going to be a code for a vinyl top which if I had to take a guess would be dark blue.
    Trim / MB = ? (interior is MIA) Medium Blue
    DSO / 34 = ? Detroit

    You seem to be missing three characters from your VIN:

    0K---319887

    0 = 1970 Model Year
    K = Kansas City, MO Assembly Plant
    91 = 2dr Maverick (This was the ONLY body style available in 1970 model year)
    ? = This digit will be your engine code. U = 170, T = 200, L = 250 (No V8's available in 1970)
    319887 = serial number with first car starting at 100,001. Based on this number, it appears that your car is a 1970 and has the ignition switch on the column, as opposed to early 1970 models which were built in the spring and summer of 1969 and referred to as 1969.5 cars which had ignition switch on the dash.

    Hope this helps. Please let us know what your engine code is so I can add your car to the VIN List.

    Just a decorative trademark "F" for Ford - not part of the VIN number

    The F at beginning and end of VIN was eliminated as it tended to confuse, 50 years later it still does.

    Color 47 is "Glen Green" or Light Green
    I don't have a 1975 book for the trim code
