you will be happy at first but then the sickness will take hold of you..... and you wish you wer going 10's and then someday you will and then you will be happy for a lil then it will be 9's......it never ends
You may be right. If that happens, I will stop screwing around, build a car that can safely handle it, and go with a blown big block and start playing with the big boys!
Scooter, MavOwar is right, it does become a sickness...............for me that happened in the "glory days" some 30+ years ago. Racing in SS classes all of my life...............until now. One thing to keep in mind is that there is always someone with more money/HP than you, and to get into that circle can be very damaging to you "pocket box". The main thing is to go out and have fun..............and get back to "grass roots" type racing, not this "Electronic BS". Heads up racing is where it is for some of us "Ole Guys"! OK, if you have 26" tires and the stock converter I will predict you turn 12.10's with the current setup and 150 shot...............If you had the right gears and 3000/3500 stall I think you may be able to break into the mid 11's..............................Putting my $20 in the ring!
I would be happy for mid to low 12s. I don't race anyone but myself, and first and foremost, it has to remain street legal and street comfortable. So the gears stay unless I get an overdrive. Converter will be replaced one of these days. Definitely. I can see myself getting high 12s and just living with those numbers, but I can also see myself getting low 12s, or 13s, or whatever, and feeling like I need to do a little something extra just to get into the next number. So, my wallet is hoping for HIGH 11s or HIGH 12s, but nothing low...
what is the timeframe??? first pass... best run of the day... fastest before it blew (first day) with you driving...12.09 at 112.35... ...:Handshake...
When the weather warms up but before it gets humid. There may only be ONE pass, so whatever speed I get to before it blows is what will determine the winner. ET winner may be whoever bids highest, unless it blows close to the finish line and I can coast across.
I just typed in something like weight HP ET calculator. A bunch popped up on google. Most said 10.6-ish, one said 9.5 and one said 11.5 (that was a Porsche site). I think I ran the numbers through 8 or 10 calculators.
Scooter, I don't want to burst any bubbles here, but this is the same as trying to use a generic "online" engine dyno software....................it doesn't compute To run a 10.6 in your car you would have to have about 450HP to the RW's and probalby making at least 540HP at the crank. Then you would have to have more gear and stall..............I will even go so far as to say that the way your car is setup now and if you only make one pass you will not even get out of the 12's....................The 150 shot will not give you 150HP boost at the rear wheels.
What is this about "busting bubbles"? Ain't no bubbles here. I am driving a six thousand dollar heap handed down to me by my wife's great grandmother. I have said SEVERAL times, I would be happy as everclear in punch (as a duck on a june-bug, chrome on a trailer hitch, stink on $hit, etc.) if I get into the HIGH 12s, much less the 10s. I think 13s might be a HOOT I never said I was EXPECTING 10s, and hopefully, in fact, I hope I clearly stated otherwise. But the calculators all say 10.6, which I agree, is most likely BUNK! I keep getting sad purple faces, and "busted bubbles" but honestly, guys, I know how reality works. I am just having fun, even if it blows up in my face.
i would say low 12s just like every body else. that is very respectable. very few new cars can even brake into the 12s. your conveter is your bigest hinderence. that has me thinking that low 12s may not be achiveable. new rules for 2010 say that for nitrous you have to have a fire jacket and fire pants or a 1 pice fire suit.
Whatever you run on the motor, you'll run 1.8-2 seconds faster in the 1/4, about 1.2 seconds in the 1/8. If all goes well, you should run about 7.50-7.70 1/8, 11.70-12 flat 1/4.
