That was the case on my convertor - only I had it in my car for 3 years before I ran it.

I'm sure there's a "statue of imitations" on it. :yup:

Good luck whichever way you decide to go.

I run a 4,500 from them....very good price and I have not had any trouble out of it.
*I think I shipped them my converter and they rebuilt it (increased stahl) and shipped it back for around $250.

    Picked up the converter yesterday.
    These guys ( http://www.ultimateconverter.com/ ) built it.
If I want it tweaked it will cost me about $185.00 Even with that I'm about three bills under retail on the thing. I'll let you know how it works when I get it in there. Some time before spring.

Sounds like a good deal Ray(y)...looking at their detail build sheet it appears they do it the right way...good luck with it and let us know how it goes...hell if they guarenteed me a 1/10th and a couple MPH..I'd be tempted myself:)

Well, I finally got around to pulling the transmission the other day.
Found out that the new converter has the bigger bolt pattern. Crap!
So We get a hold of the manufacturer and they want the same money to change the bolt pattern as opening it up and rebuilding it. (185) so when it gets back it will be tailored exactly to my car. If I forget about the first $500.00 it doesn't quite bite the wallet so hard.

I bought a converter from them, He was the only one i contacted that didn't recommend a high stall. (Roots Blower). It is a soft hit radial tire converter, It works wonderful, The guy (Linnie i think is his name) Hand builds each and ever converter, He is a cool and knowledgeable guy to talk with. I think you got a very good deal, (mine cost 800.00) If it does not work the way you want, call and talk to him i think you'll be happy with his service.

A custom conveter is just that - it custom built to suit your particular set- up as to hp/trans/rear etc. Personally I wouldn't spend that king of jack unless it was built for MY car- even for another 100 bucks. And in the end what will this $500/600.00, 4 hr investment get you? I mean look at it from an "Et for the buck" perspective. Maybe you can buy more et with that same money spent somewhere else??
    Not a sermon..just a thought

You are rite a custom converter is just that, But a good converter still cost big jack, ever saw a 150 dollar converter take out a crank and block in 25 miles? I have. You do get what you pay for, and even that is getting sorrier. longevity is what i look for first, then performance

I realize I'm still getting a fine deal. Just bummed that I have my car at the shop taking up a bay I could be making money with rather than spending it until he gets my converter turned around. I'm sure it's busy as hell there with racing just getting up and running. Hopefully it's not too long.
