I really like the old Comets, I was looking at a couple 66 Comets before I got my Maverick.

So you have two 4bbl's? I bet that thing really went! Did you eventually sell that car? Yours has a different ps pump than mine (mine looks like a more recent (80's-00's?) model). Love those chrome reverse wheels!

If you look close (I know it's not a great picture) you will see it's only one Holley. I actually put some 69 351w heads on the motor and a different manifold and with slicks turn in the high 12's. It was a monster on the street because it had a wide ratio 4spd toploader and 4:56 gears. I never liked the powersteering (it was orignal) and gave it the deep six because it almost got me killed in a street race...................the went sideways when I tried to go around a corner at 80+mph while racing a GTO.............I was ahead before I spun out.
Those were not chrome wheels, that came from the factory on Cyclone, and they were just hub caps. I later put some Cragers all the way around. Also notice the rear facing traction bars, and they actually worked pretty well............the chrome things going toward the rear.
I had the car for maybe a couple of years and then someone made me an offer I couldn't refuse and I bought a 65 GT Mustang Convert with factory 3spd on the floor and power top.......................Oh, I paid $500 for the 65 Mustang.................................those were the days.

I remember, now that I mislabeled the wheels, the wheel covers that came on the Cyclone. My last old car was a '65 fb Mustang I got from my dad when he died eleven years ago. That had to go when my wife went back to school. She promised I would have another old car and she kept that promise. Now I have a strong, solid '64 Caliente project!:bananaman

Yes, have always had a soft spot for the 65/65 Comet. You will have to post some pictures when you get time.
The wheel covers/hub caps, Cyclone badges, factory tach on the dash a lot like the Falcon Sprint, and 289 4brl were part of the Cyclone package.

    My new car

I am not happy with the color but the rust-free straight body and clean floor boards and frame are thrilling. I need to complete the dash (and all the guages), the rest of the interior, and most of the electronics/lights. Oh, and a new rear main seal. What does that tag from the block indicate about this engine?

Yes, it looks like a real straight car and with no rust.............that's great.
I have never seen a tag attached to the motor like that except from an authorized Ford rebuilder. Where is the tag on the motor? The casting number for the block is hidden by the starter. What does the vin tell you, I would assume it is a A code and probably has a 2brl carburetor?

    Not a stock motor

I was sold this car with the understanding that the engine came out of a '64 Fairlane and is a K-code motor and an Edelbrock 650cfm 4bbl. This tag is on the right front corner of the block (near the battery, somewhat).
