Derrick, here is the e-mail address for Tom Yanulaytis. He is good contact for So-Cal Galaxies. toms66gal@cs.com Here is the e-mail address for Mark Reynolds, Director of FGCoA. director@galaxieclub.com These two contacts could help you if decide to sell the car.
Hmmm, lets see. What would Troy Trepanier be able to do with this? I'm seeing stroked turbo'd 460, shaved, air-ride, 22's... Possibilities are endless. Please dont get rid of it. Heres an example. I think this car really looks great. But you could do better. http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/729085
It is www.galaxieclub.com My e-mail is hawkco@bellsouth.net That e-mail address will also work if you wish to send money via any of the pay services.
Hey man, does that bring back memories! My Dad bought a new 4 door Custom 500 in 1967, I learned to drive in it, went on a couple of dates in it before I got my 67 Mustang. His was a 289 C-4, no air, no power anything. These ARE the same as the Galaxie bodies, just as someone stated before, a lower model. Our next door neighbor bought a galaxie several years later, same color as dads Custom, only differnce was his had the Galaxie trim pieces, from a distance you had to know which was which to tell the differnce. I would also say it is probably pretty rare now as it is a 2 door, most were 4 door family cars. If it were me, I'd just have to find a way to keep it, afterall how many 38 year old cars do you find in this good a condition? I wish you were closer to 'Bama cause I'd sure take it off your hands. It would make a great sleeper with a 351W or even a 460. Oh by the way, those hubcaps on the right side of the rear seat are the originals for this car. IMO, it's a great find, a dare to be differnt kind of ride.
He could sell a fastback quick... The fastback also lends itself to those mods. The coupe just doesn't quite do it. That is a beautiful fastback on that page though. Dave
Total Production of 1967 Ford Custom 2-doors Body Code 62E: 18,107 Total Production of 1967 Ford Custom 500 (slightly Upper trim level over a Custom) 2-doors Body code 62B: 18,146
Man, I never figured it would be that low a production! I'd sure try to hang on to it knowing that, might not be desirable to a lot of folks, but then again how many folks besides us want a Maverick?
I beg to differ. I think it would be awesome as a Pro Touring car. Imagine what road trips would be like in that thing. I'd keep it if it were mine. It would sit for a long while untill I could put money into it, but I would keep it.
Pro Touring is the way. It reminds me of a Fairlane. I saw a yellow Fairlane in a magazine with 17x11 on the front & back. Maybe it works on this car too. Keep it. I have a 69 Charger. It easy to get parts for it, I like the comet better. It's smaller & fun.
Thanks Hawkco for the contact! well i got a response back form them, this is that they said; "You can pretty much restore the car with Galaxie parts. A custom is simply a Galaxie with less trim options. There is quite a demand for 2 door post cars. Guys are always looking for them to street rod them. A 514 would be sweet in this one. And in the original white it would look very subtle and not attract attention. Being that it is in California, I personally would have no way of getting it here." the other guy said; "Here is some info...Parts from the 1967 Custom 500 2-door sedan are compatible with most other 1967 Galaxies. front clip, front & rear suspension, dash... While it is true that the Custom or the I6, 3 speed is not desirable, the mechanics of the clutch pedal assembly does hold some interest to those looking for spare parts. But one item from the car does not make parting it out worthwhile. Selling it outright to a private party or to a specialty dismantler such as Memory Lane would bring the fastest dollar. I can guarantee that no one in the So-Cal Galaxie club would be interested in the car but if you like, I can run an ad on our website for you if you give me a dollar figure, location (city and state), contact info and your ability to provide pictures of the car to those that contact you. I recently saw on Ebay a 1966 Galaxie that was converted from a 390 cid, 3 on-the-tree to a floor shift 4-speed. Picture attached. But with the car already having the V-8 made the transition much easier. After I saw your work on your Mavericks, I am sure you know of the changes required. The best of Ford, to you." well thats what they said... i'm wondering why he said this though "I can guarantee that no one in the So-Cal Galaxie club would be interested in the car" is it becuase its guys don't condider this a real galaxie and becuase its the low line one like everyone else said. i guess i'm looking at it like how some ford guys view mavericks. wow thanks craig thats some good info.. really makes me thing about this one huh? anything on post vs non post (if thats what you call it?) anyways gonna go back this weekend and try to uncover it with all that junk and see what the other side looks like along with the motor. either way i still don't know if i should take on this project.
I would guess he miss typed and meant to say that "I can guarantee that some one in the So-Cal......etc. I think the numbers I gave you are for post cars. I believe all Customs were a post car...two and 4-door.
Most likely, the So-Cal Galaxie guy meant no one would buy the custom. Some, okay, a lot, of the Galaxie guys are uppity and snooty. Most think they should restored to factory original. Those of us who like restomods are looked upon as the lower class. The Galaxie crowd is not as freindly as this crowd.
hum i thought so... so your saying they are like shelby or concourse mustang onwers? oopps did i just write that?
They are not that bad, mainly because except for the '63 - '64 models, you can't get repro parts and the parts are just not available. I have '66 Galaxie XL (which I think is the best looking Galaxie) and I can't find any parts for it except the drivetrain. I'm thinking about taking the high performance 390 out of it, stroking it and building it, and wedging it in a Maverick.
