Okay so, here is the deal. My maverick is a '70 250 straight 6. I have had it for about 5 years now. I have learned a bit about how to work on it but, I crave to know more! Unfortunately, I have no idea where to start. I was really hoping someone around the Fayetteville AR area might be able to take me undertheir wing and help me learn more about my machine. I love my car and I love to learn but, I just do not have the experience to move forward very far. Anybody have any ideas or pointers?
The best way i learned was by tearing it down and rebuilding it, by the time your done youll no every nut and bolt on the car
I'm assuming you're looking to meet someone in your local area who's knowledgeable about Mavericks. I wish you luck on that because it happened for me years ago and was very beneficial. In the meantime, this forum is a great resource for learning.
A set of factory shop manuals and a few intimate evenings together should go a long way to increase your knowledge... This is a link for a repo set that are in two vs five separate volumes... The orig are usually expensive(well over $100) unless you luck into a set at a flea market, yard sale, etc(how I got my '71 set for $6)... http://www.themotorbookstore.com/19...-shop-manual&gclid=CL3j5bbZ0ccCFQGVfgod_eUGOA
Tom, Just about to post the same thing: http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=4640220&cc=1132074&jnid=469&jpid=0 (BTW: your old avitar always cracked me up. Good movie) Micah
LOL, well one of these days maybe it'll make a comeback... I'm old school so prefer paper vs CD but the digital version is better buy...
you tube power nation hot rod tv magazines books it is almost like being in school study it you will understand it like my Uncle always told me ''The more you mess with it the more you will understand it''
Thanks alot for the replies! I suppose I will try to do what I can to learn on my own with information. Perhaps maybe search for a classic car group in my area that could help point me in the right direction. I have alot of work to do on it and just not enough time : (
Keep the questions coming. There is a core group here who really like being helpful. I've learned a ton from them. M.D.
ya, best way is to keep on the forum. figure out what you want to do with the car and research, and ask questions. i just moved to little rock and think it would be fun to meet other maverick / comet owners and compare notes, hang out. its great motivation to see other peoples rides and get inspired.
I try to work on my projects at least a half hour each day it doesn't sound like much but it keeps my interest and its something I look forward to after I get off work .
Think we're going to Fayetteville for Bikes, Blues, and BBQ next weekend. I was debating on driving the Mav.
There you go, no doubt will be able to share several points and suggestions... You guys should meet up...
