i smell gas

    i might try that when all else fails i have a couple cars the charcoal caniset wore out in and filled with gas causing it to smell so i will inspect that really well i seen a canister there but i thought it was vacum i will check it out

    Well you said you smell gas fumes when you open the trunk...if the canister is in the front you shouldnt smell anything in the trunk if thats what it is.

    well unless the fumes are going throug the cabin collecting in the trunk

    ok well i dont have a charcoal canister i have nice spot were one should go but its not there, i let friend bower my jack so i cant get under the car right now but im almost willing to bet the vent tube is venting somehwere close to the inside of the car since i cant find it under the hood and lose track of it tying to trace it with out a jack think i may go down to the salvage and get a late model crown vic canister that mounts on the bottom of the trunk pan (in the crown) and use it in the rear instead of underneath the hood

    Does the vent line looks like its rubber tubing all the way to the front? If so it might be dry rotted somewhere along the cabin area...relocating the canister to the rear sounds like the best idea right now, make sure the trunk is sealed good(no holes in the quarter panel area of the trunk) otherwise youll continue getting vapor fumes in the trunk.
